Trustfile Signs Reselling Agreement With Independent Systems; Independent Systems to Include Trustfile Functionality Within Its Sales and Use Tax Solutions

BATON ROUGE, La., Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Trustfile, the leader in electronic state sales and use tax e-filing and payment technology, has entered into a reselling agreement with Independent Systems and Programming, developer of affordable sales and use tax calculation software, databases and forms. As part of the agreement, Independent Systems will market Trustfile to its customers worldwide, for the first time offering them an electronic alternative to paper-based state sales and use tax filings.
"The days of paper filings are numbered and we are excited that Independent Systems has looked to Trustfile as the premier electronic filing solution to offer their customers," said King Woolf, Trustfile's President and Chief Operating Officer. "Independent Systems is a respected name in ERP, financial and accounting industries and our agreement reflects the increasing demand for reliable electronic sales and use tax filing technology."
More and more state departments of revenue are requiring that sales and use tax returns be filed electronically. For that reason, Independent Systems also announced plans to integrate Trustfile technology into its software, allowing users to electronically submit their returns and payment online.
With the click of a mouse, users can access Trustfile, importing data onto tax reporting forms directly from the files created by Independent Systems' interface. Trustfile lets users file one day and set the payment for a later date, and print a return for review before transmitting, making error checking easy. Trustfile technology transmits the completed returns in one session without having to log in and out or re-enter passwords.
"Independent Systems customers are seeking a fully integrated, affordable solution for preparing and filing state tax returns," said John Osman, President. "Every day, our new customers ask about how to handle electronic filing and we now have an industry-leading solution. Via our partnership with Trustfile, we will offer our customers the option of both paper-based and electronic filing within our product set. As more and more states require electronic filing in lieu of paper-based returns, Independent Systems customers will be ready."
Trustfile currently processes approximately $8 billion in business taxes annually and allows users to prepare, file and pay their taxes in multiple states: Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
Thirteen states currently have mandates in place for the electronic filing of individual income tax returns or are in the process of moving to a paperless environment. Eighteen states have required electronic filing programs for sales tax or withholding tax filings. "Electronic filing mandates are becoming an established feature of the tax administration landscape," Woolf said. "Trustfile is a logical tool for Independent Systems to help their customers comply with e-filing requirements."
